Peter Leeson is a former auditor with global experience and a consultant and coach in helping organisations change their focus on quality and continuous improvement. He has some 45 years’ experience in the IT industry and over 20 years as a consultant and coach. His focus has moved from process to quality, and from quality to culture.

“There are several ways to achieve ISO certification. One way that is always popular is to do the minimum, create the documentation necessary and try to fool the auditor. An experienced auditor usually can identify the issues and report that the practices have not been implemented as expected.

The other approach is to understand the purpose and goal of the practices and requirements. We are not asking for documentation; we are asking for communication and traceability. The objective is not to enact a series of activities and produce reports; it is to change the culture of the organisation to work consistently and continuously, at all levels, on improvement.

In this short presentation, I will be comparing the requirements and expectations of leadership vs management, and how to encourage team members to challenge outdated, useless or redundant rules, processes and standards.”
